Dual Wavelength UV Detector

The Adept CE4200 is a detector of the highest specification and versatility covering the range 190-700nm with automatic fast filter insertion at 370nm.
Operation is by a keypad and 4 line LCD display of menus, prompts, parameters, wavelength, absorbance etc. It may also form part of any system controlled by PowerStream software.

Dual wavelength operation allows two wavelengths to be monitored simultaneously with their ratio also being available. Full programming using up to six wavelengths is also possible from the control panel.

Wavelength Scanning at up to 400nm/s is available, 8 scans may be stored for each elution. In addition up to 50 scans may be stored with password protection. Up to 30 methods may be created and stored, password protected, ensuring reproducible conditions when recalled. All other specifications are as for the CE4201 detector.

Variable Wavelength UV Detector

The Adept CE4201 detector is designed to monitor any single wavelength in the 190-700nm range.
Optical bandwidth is approximately 8nm and stray light is less than 0.02%.
Calibration and test are automatic at switch-on. Software for validation procedures is available.
Flowcells may be changed easily and without alignment adjustments and the Deuterium lamp is guaranteed for 1500 hours or 1 year and is fitted with an hours counter.

Noise and drift performance are of the very highest order available, ±0.5 x 10-5A peak to peak and ±0.2 x 10-4A/hour respectively.
An automatic switch-on program is provided to save operator time during warm-up.

Dual Piston Pump

The new Adept CE4100 pump uses a stepper motor drive to provide excellent flow precision, with software controlled drive compensation to reduce pulsing to negligible levels.

Flow rates from 0.001-10mL/min are selectable in 0.001mL steps with pressures up to 40MPa available. The pump heads, using ceramic inlays, are inert and bio-compatible.
Pumps may be programmed from their keypad, using the 4 line LCD display of menus, prompts, parameters, etc.

Up to 30 methods may be created, stored with protection and recalled for reproducible conditions.

Two pumps may be controlled by the CE4200 detector to form gradients without system control by PowerStream.

Auto-injector

The CE4800 auto-injector is designed for routine analysis of large numbers of samples where reliability and precision are important.
Flushed loop injection provides reproducibility better than 0.5%, with a capacity up to 96 samples without needle wash and 92 samples with needle wash.
The standard unit is supplied with a 20µL loop, other loop volumes are available.

Dynamic Mixers

Binary and Ternary dynamic mixers are available for gradient forming at pressures up to 40MPa. The CE4120 and CE4130 are for binary and ternary mixing respectively and are made from stainless steel.

For bio-compatibility mixers CE4121 and CE4131 are available in PEEK and operate up to pressures of 12MPa.

Column Temperature Control

The CE4601 heated and the CE4600 heated and chilled ovens are available. Temperature ranges are 10ºC above ambient to 120ºC and 10ºC below ambient to 80ºC. Both have fan circulated air to provide rapid heating and cooling.

Up to three columns, analytical or preparative are accommodated and provision is made for simultaneously mounting a Rheodyne injector and a column switching valve. Ovens are fitted with a solvent leak detection system with adjustable threshold.

Solvent Degassers

To enhance performance by reducing bubble formation two vacuum solvent degasser units are offered; the CE4040 for up to four solvent lines and the CE4020 for two channel operation. Each line can handle flows of 5mL/min and channels may be connected in parallel for increased flow rates.

Gas is removed to better than 1ppm at 1mL/min flow rate reducing baseline fluctuations and improving sensitivity. Solvents are only in contact with PTFE and PEEK so the units are inert to HPLC solvents.

Solvent Reservoir Organiser

The CE4033 is a solvent reservoir organiser for 3, one litre, calibrated solvent reservoirs and is designed to fit neatly on top of the UV detector units.

The unit is fitted with a lifting handle and a pipe guide to organise the solvent pipes from the bottles.

The unit allows free access to the column, injector valve and flowcell.

Refractive Index Detector

The Adept CE4700 differential refractive index detector is suitable for compounds which show no active absorption in the UV region such as sugars or polymers.
The highly stable detector is operated by a keypad and 2 x 16 character LCD display.
.
A built-in solenoid valve enables the reference cell to conveniently be flushed or filled.

The signal output may be processed by PowerStream or connected to a recorder or integrator.

Conductivity Detector

The CE4710 conductivity detector converts an Adept HPLC system into an ion chromatograph. Quantification of anions, cations, metals, organic acids and surfactants is possible with solid phase chemical suppression (SPCS) down to ppb levels; without SPCS down to the ppm range.

The 0.5µL cell is temperature controlled to ±0.05ºC in its enclosure.

A solid phase chemical suppresser module CE4715 is available using two cartridges, one provides suppression while the other is equilibrated or replaced.

Diode Array Detector

The CE4400 detector covers the wavelength range 190-700nm using a dual lamp source for top performance. The 2nm resolution (Nyqist) allows fine spectral features to be observed accurately.

Full spectra are stored each time the 512 diodes of the array are read, producing immediately available real time spectra and chromatograms. Cells in stainless steel, PEEK and Kel-F are available in 2,4 and 10mm pathlengths. Low drift and noise, typically less than 1.5 x 10-5 A peak to peak, provide high sensitivity.

Fluorescence Detectors

The CE4500 shown here is a dual monochromator fully programmable detector, each monochromator covering the range 200-600nm, using an adjustable frequency Xenon lamp.

Flowcells of 4, 8 and 24µL irradiated volumes are available. The detection sensitivity is better than 100fg Anthracene in methanol using a 24µL flowcell.

The CE4501 is a filter detector for use where a lower cost is required. The lamp flash frequency is adjustable and the same 4, 8 and 24uL flowcells may be used. Sensitivity is better than 0.2pg Anthracene in methanol, using excitation at 254nm and a 24µL flowcell.
